Apparently, a few or no parent in Uganda will probably offer 20,000,000/= to his/her son/daughter to implement a tech and innovative startup like Mobile Apps, Software or even Systems, Machines, Devices
This has left many innovators with no other option but to rely on funding sources like Grants, Equity investors, loans and Donations.
These sources however may not easily fund individuals with just ideas. Most of the times it has to be a group of people operating legally, thus registered with government and perhaps pay taxes.
Empower Youth In Technology (EYIT) is glad to introduce EYIT Annual Innovation Challenge (EICH). Every year, we shall enroll teams of young innovators in our EYIT Startups Incubation Program (ESIP), through which teams shall always identify challenges, propose solutions, come with prototypes before competing to win necessary support to achieve their final products.
EYIT wins a FIRE AFRICA grant from Africa Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) to implement a women empower in ICT.
This grant will create a capacity for female students in ICT fields from Mbarara University of Science and Technology through bussiness mentorship, refresher technical skills training and provision of a co-working space to turn their research prototypes into viable startups.

“A Formula that has failed several times is absolutely wrong. That’s not a problem. One who chooses to keep using this wrong formula is the problem.
Sadly some Youths are not even willing to try the wrong formula. You can only know the formula wont work if you choose to try it. By it failing with to work with someone, may not mean it will, with you. Cultivate the formula, it matters. Its a question of choices.”
“Globally, the thinking that you will live your best life out of just a salary is another wrong formula. The boss puts where he wants you, gives you enough to keep you around and work for him. Innovation and Entreprenuership is the THING.Create time for you. START WORKING FOR YOU!, FOR YOUR GOAL Manya Enakuyo.”
“A good concept alone is not enough. We have seen Supermarkets fall, we have also seen Kabalagala sellers grow to success. The FINANCIAL FORMULA matters a lot by the way”
This is Western Uganda’s first physical meet-up for learners who have or would want to enrol in Andela Learning Community (ALC) 4.0 program in collaboration with Google and Pluralsight. The Andela Learning Community is a network of people across Africa dedicated to learning how to use technology to solve humanity’s problems.
Through the ALC, Andela invests in communities of talented technologists across Africa. Our goal is to provide an ever growing population of aspiring technologists with the resources and environment they need to become world-class problem solvers.
The event aims to drive Andela’s commitment to the growth of the tech ecosystem in Uganda by raising employable developers and tech leaders. To that regard, the meet-up event will be a gathering of learners, facilitators, mentors and tech leaders.
The purpose of the first ALC 4.0 meet-up is to connect young tech talents and learners to physical mentors who will assist them in their learning and growing their tech skills; in order to become world class programmers.
